Stephens County authorizes LMIG grant application to resurface Historic Highway 17

The board authorized submission of a $526,127.85 LMIG grant application to resurface and resurface 4.67 miles of Historic Highway 17, with a total estimated project cost of $1,674,638.96 and planned use of banked L-MIG funds and SPLOST funds to cover the balance.

Staff asked the board to authorize the chair to sign and the county administrator to submit a Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) application required for the 2025 roadwork season. The application requested $526,127.85 to level and resurface 4.67 miles of Historic Highway 17; staff said the total estimated cost to complete the work is $1,674,638.96 and that the county will supplement the grant with banked L-MIG funds ($519,162.74) and SPLOST dollars ($629,348.37).
