Justin Grama, Ellis CountyEnvironmental Services director, presented the final plat application for Big Creek Estates 3rd addition and said planning and zoning approved the final plat on March 25. Grama said staff had reviewed earlier commission questions and that outstanding site-line and sewer-district issues had been addressed at the planning stage.
A commissioner moved to approve resolution 2026-07 to establish Big Creek Estates 3rd addition to Ellis County; another commissioner seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. "So, for me, I'll I'll move to approve the Big Creek Estates 3rd edition final plat of application resolution 20 26 dash 7 to establish the creation of Big Creek Estates 3rd addition to Ellis County, Kansas," the commissioner said during the motion. After the vote, commissioners asked whether updates to zoning regulations should be scheduled now that the addition is complete, and staff said planning could compile a list of proposed changes and provide a quote for drafting the updates.
Commissioners also raised water concerns and brainstormed whether a secondary PVC casing beside a well could be used to monitor water; staff and the developer said they would check legal and technical feasibility before a formal recommendation.
