Jefferson County commissioners on April 27 approved a series of resolutions declaring county property surplus and authorizing public auctions and record destruction.
The board approved Resolution 2026-27 to destroy county records (claims from 2010–2018 and bank papers 2010–2013) under Idaho Code requirements. Commissioners also approved Resolutions 2026-24 (surplus 2019 Suzuki King Quad ATV and industrial trailer), 2026-26 (a batch of vehicles and equipment including several work trucks, a chipper and a 1998 John Deere water wagon) and 2026-28 (a 2014 Dodge Journey to be offered at auction). Commissioners discussed minimum bids (noting a $2,000 suggested minimum for the Dodge Journey) and the repair status of several trucks before placing them on auction lists.
"We usually use $3,500 on all the 4 wheelers in that trailer," one staff member said when the board reviewed minimums; a commissioner said some trucks have mechanical issues that could cost between $2,000 and $7,000 to repair. The motions for each resolution were moved and seconded and carried by roll call with the commissioners present voting aye.
Staff will prepare auction notices and follow statutory advertising timelines prior to public sale.
