Patrick County library reports strong summer-reading participation and bookmobile use

Library staff updated the Board on regional library services and focused on the upcoming summer-reading program. Melissa Chapman (voice 13) described the program as a statewide reading challenge that runs in June and July, with registration starting June 1, and said participants receive prizes and are entered into drawings by age group.
Chapman shared participation statistics for the Patrick branch: 34 programs with a total attendance of 320 (preschool 97; school-age 208; teens 15) and 11 adult participants. She also noted the bookmobile hosted nine programs with 172 participants and 52 adults engaged. "So remember, you don't have to be a kid to participate," Chapman said, encouraging adult participation. Chapman closed by thanking county staff and volunteers and asked supervisors to continue supporting library services.
