Commission extends data center moratorium 90 days to allow ordinance drafting

“Staff is requesting that the board extend the moratorium for additional 90 days through 11/21/2026 to allow sufficient time to complete and present a proposed data center ordinance that addresses the county's identified concerns,” a staff member told commissioners. Staff said legal has reviewed and signed the current moratorium extension language and that a draft ordinance is near readiness for legal review. The extension preserves the county's ability to regulate data center siting while staff finalizes ordinance language for formal consideration.
