Council authorizes conditional talks to keep grid cameras active while seeking cost-share agreement

The police representative said the cameras have had investigative utility: ‘‘we just cleared 16 burglary motor vehicles… they got the warrant and arrested him today,’’ he told council. Council voted to authorize staff and city attorneys to seek a written, one‑year agreement in principle with East Fort Bend that would split costs and share maintenance/damage responsibility so camera coverage could continue while definitive contract language is negotiated.
