The Senate convened and the presiding officer called the body to order. The session opened with a prayer offered by Senator Shipley of Adams, who closed the invocation by saying, "In Jesus holy name we pray." The Pledge of Allegiance followed and the presiding officer asked whether there were corrections to the journal; hearing none, the journal was approved as printed.
