Council sorts candidate placements for multiple boards; final votes set for Dec. 16

Following interviews, council members spent the later portion of the Dec. 4 work session grouping applicants into tentative placements across a range of advisory boards, including Planning & Zoning, Board of Adjustment (BOA), animal shelter advisory, arts and humanities, library, and senior advisory.
The chair told applicants: “Following that, we'll make the actual appointments at our next regular meeting, which will be Tuesday the 16th,” and staff will notify applicants after council ratifies the list. During deliberations, councilors proposed specific tentative placements and swaps — for example, reappointing several incumbents to BOA or moving long‑engaged alternates into full seats where attendance and technical expertise better match the commission’s needs. Several members urged clearing up attendance records before any final assignment.
Council members noted some boards had few or no applicants and discussed reopening applications if necessary. The council said a formal resolution listing all appointments will be placed on the Dec. 16 agenda and effective dates for appointed terms will be included in that resolution.
