Rowlett updates holiday events, arts grants and library winter program

Ms. Bowers of the city’s community development office briefed the council on several upcoming community events and programs. She announced the Rowlett Main Street Fest and parade on Saturday, December 6 (5–9 p.m.), the return of Rowlett on Ice (opening Dec. 6 and running through Feb. 7) and the City’s Light Up Rowlett house‑decoration contest with nominations due by Sunday, December 7 at 5 p.m.
Bowers also summarized cultural funding opportunities: the arts and humanities commission recommends grant funding to local cultural groups and schools, and applicants must demonstrate how funding will support cultural arts in Rowlett; application materials are due by 01/16/2026. She noted the library’s winter reading program runs through January 3 and encouraged families to participate.
