Treasury will produce study on including independent contractors in NEST

Chief of Staff Kirsten Van Ry told trustees the office is working on a study about including independent contractors in the Nevada Employee Savings Trust, pursuant to section 36 of Senate Bill 305. Van Ry said Treasury is pulling Nevada-specific data with help from the DETR economist and that Pew has agreed to assist.
Staff expects to present a draft of the study at the November Board meeting, incorporate trustee feedback and bring a final draft to the December meeting so it can be transmitted to the Legislature by the statutory deadline. No formal action was required for the agenda item; trustees received the update as informational.
