Peekskill authorizes transient overnight dockage at Fleischmann Pier with $2/ft nightly fee

The Peekskill Common Council voted June 8 to permit temporary transient dockage at the floating docks at Fleischmann Pier and authorized the city manager to finalize a permit package that will include fees, application procedures and insurance requirements.
Planner Matt Rudikoff outlined the proposal: transient users would complete an online agreement, pay electronically, and follow dock rules and regulations. "The user fee that we've talked about, is $2 per linear foot per night. So that would mean a 30 foot boat would pay $60 per night to use the floating dock," Rudikoff said. The resolution also sets a suggested maximum stay of three consecutive nights to prevent long‑term mooring.
Council members asked staff to correct minor contract language (e.g., specifying "per linear foot") and discussed comparable rates in nearby communities; Rudikoff cited Kingston ($3.50) and Charles Point (about $3) as comparators and said Peekskill is setting a lower initial rate as a pilot. The council carried the resolution authorizing temporary transient dockage permits and directed the city manager to finalize the permit package and fee collection procedures.
