Public urges Planning Commission to keep solar/battery rules consistent with wind code

During the workshop public comment period, Carol Black asked the Planning Commission to ensure the solar and battery ordinance drafting keeps language consistent with the county wind code.
"As the Planning Commission works on creating the solar and battery storage ordinance, please consider if any of the issues that you're discussing that may require amendment to the wind code, that we keep the wind code then consistent," Black said, citing examples including decommissioning provisions and view‑shed language. Chair Brian Davies and staff acknowledged the point and said alignment between codes will be considered as the solar/battery language is drafted.
Staff agreed that small, targeted amendments to the wind code may be appropriate to maintain consistency if drafting the new energy code raises inconsistencies.
