The Town Board of the Town of Peru adopted a resolution formally accepting and adopting the town's gender-based-violence and workplace policy and directed management to implement it immediately. "Now, therefore, be it resolved that the town board of the town of Peru hereby formally accepts and adopts the town of Peru's gender based violence and workplace policy," the Chair stated during the meeting.
The resolution requires management to provide resource information, including contacts for the New York State domestic and ****** violence hotline, enforce valid orders of protection and ensure appropriate staff-awareness training. Board members discussed posting the hotline number in departments such as highway and water and sewer. The Chair also explained that recent changes in New York State procurement rules require bidders for state contracts to have such a policy and to submit a certification with bids, a shift the board said could affect contractors that bid on state-funded work.
