Citrus County held a public hearing on the proposed residential solid‑waste assessment and a multi‑year rate plan designed to fund landfill operations, future cell construction and free disposal programs (bulky items, hazardous waste, recycling dropoffs). Residents asked why they were being assessed in addition to private trash service and asked for clearer information in the mailed notices.
