Comal County proclaims September 2024 Leukodystrophy Awareness Month; local foundation recognized
Comal County Commissioners approved a proclamation recognizing September as Leukodystrophy Awareness Month and heard from the Believing for Brylee Foundation, which said it has raised more than $2 million to assist affected families and will hold its 12th annual event at the Midway Fest Grounds.

The Comal County Commissioners Court approved a proclamation recognizing September 2024 as Leukodystrophy Awareness Month and instructed that the Comal County Courthouse Bell Tower be tinted pink Sept. 20–30 to raise awareness. The proclamation noted there is no effective cure and emphasized the importance of newborn screening and family support.
