Comal County OKs RFQ for Watson Lane East study amid rapid development

Comal County authorized release of a request for qualifications for a Watson Lane East needs study and conceptual and schematic design, with questions due Oct. 10 and proposals due Oct. 24. County engineering staff said the study will evaluate growth, traffic demand and potential connections to regional corridors.
"We've been looking at Watson Lane. There's a lot of developments happening in that area... and so the idea is that we wanna, get us a design together that evaluates growth, populations and gives us some guidance and direction on how to plan best for Watson Lane going forward, in this area," a county staff member said. Commissioners discussed that the area is rapidly transitioning from rural and residential character toward industrial and higher-capacity uses and said planning now will help avoid larger problems later.
