Potter County authorizes Diwali fireworks sales for Oct. 24'Nov. 3
The commissioners voted 5-0 to authorize state-permitted fireworks vendors to sell to the public for the Diwali period (Oct. 24'Nov. 3), a sale-only authorization that does not change local rules on setting off fireworks, and the fire chief reported no objection to the sales authorization.

The Potter County Commissioners voted unanimously to allow state-permitted vendors to sell fireworks during a two-week window to coincide with Diwali (Oct. 24 through midnight Nov. 3). The request was presented by Laura Smith (S13), representing the Unwinds, who said the authorization would let community members buy fireworks closer to the festival celebration date "to celebrate the triumph of good over evil."
