Calipatria High robotics program wins $6,000 grant; students recap First Robotics Competition

The Calipatria Unified School District Board of Trustees heard a short presentation April 13 from Calipatria High School's robotics advisor and students about their First Robotics Competition experience and accepted a $6,000 Robnett Education Foundation grant to support the CHS robotics program.
Mr. Garcia, identified as the CHS robotics advisor, and several students described competition highlights and learning outcomes. Trustee Raul Navarro recommended establishing a robotics/STEM pathway at Bill E. Young Jr. Middle School to build a pipeline into the high school program. The board accepted the $6,000 grant by roll call of 7 ayes.
During the public forum, Tanya Soriano of the Hornet Booster Club donated $2,811 to the CHS softball team for uniforms; the donation was recorded in the minutes. The board also received informational material from Lourdes Jasso of the Calipatria Foundation regarding lithium (topic material recorded as submitted information).
