Parowan dedicates 1200 West to complete land swap with Iron County

The Parowan Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved a plat to formally dedicate 1200 West as a 60-foot public right-of-way, a step required to complete a property exchange that transfers the landfill parcel to Iron County and gives Parowan ownership of a gravel pit and an adjacent 17-acre staging parcel.

Parowan’s Planning and Zoning Commission on July 1 voted unanimously to approve a plat dedicating 1200 West as a public road, a procedural step city staff said was necessary to complete a property exchange with Iron County. City Manager Dan Jessen told commissioners the road exists physically but had not been formally dedicated, so the City will record the plat and deed the 60-foot right-of-way to the city prior to transferring the underlying landfill parcel to the County.
