Trustees questioned why per-site fees in the First Tee expanded-learning proposal varied substantially between schools and directed staff to obtain clarifying data before final approval.
Trustee Huerta flagged specific differences, noting El Sol was listed at roughly $60,945.64 while La Paz was proposed at about $78,600 for a similar student number. Trustees asked whether enrollment, special-needs considerations, or coach staffing drove the variance. Assistant Superintendent Alonzo said funding comes from an ACES after-school enrichment grant and allocations differ based on average participation at each site. He agreed to gather participation and allocation data and return the item at the next study session.
Because the contract had not been executed, trustees voted to table the item and directed cabinet to investigate the fee schedule; some trustees expressed concern that delaying approval might risk program placement because First Tee has limited coach availability.
