Ashley and Fulton boards move forward with shared superintendent interviews

At a joint workshop Monday, the Ashley and Fulton Boards of Education advanced a coordinated interview process for five candidates under consideration for a shared superintendent role. Paul Hungerford opened the discussion and told board members that "All 5 candidates are still interested, even with the perspective of sharing a superintendent." The workshop was held at Fulton Public Schools High School.

Board members discussed interview format, scoring and public input. The boards reviewed a list of specific interview questions covering candidate background, how a shared superintendent would maintain visibility and accessibility in two communities, approaches to budget development, recruitment and retention strategies, conflict mediation with shared resources, and how to prevent information silos between the districts. The board agreed on a plan to invite candidates to ask final questions and to collect community feedback through a standardized form that will include a separate strengths-and-weaknesses section for each interviewee.

The group also discussed interview-day logistics: Mr. Baker will greet each candidate alongside an Ashley staff member and candidates will enter through the central office. Paul will distribute a Google Form to board members to determine second‑round interview dates. There were two formal workshop votes recorded: approval of the meeting agenda and adjournment at 8:48 p.m.; both motions carried unanimously.

Next steps: the boards will collect community feedback on each candidate, finalize a rubric for scoring (to be determined by the board), and schedule second‑round interviews after responses to the Google Form are received.
