County to create administrative permit for temporary wireless support structures

Staff said a second wireless bill creates a new zoning category for temporary support structures — temporary monopoles used for natural-disaster response, special events or market testing — and prescribes criteria for approval.
"What a temporary support structure is, is it's a temporary wireless facility... it's used, often in times of like a natural disaster," Gastro said. He described five or six approval reasons in the statute, including disaster response and special events, and said staff proposes an administrative permit with an initial 180-day approval and the possibility of extensions up to two years (with additional fees).
The proposed ordinance language will add use-specific standards for temporary support structures and set administrative permitting, a fee and extension rules for the county's regulatory framework.
