District judges ask commissioners for 'functional analyst' position and courthouse security fixes

The judge said the analyst position would "provide specialized expertise in case management system configuration, workflow analysis, data integrity, and legislative reporting" and argued it would let judicial leaders focus on executive and strategic priorities. On security, the judge said the OCA review found "some glaring issues" and emphasized that many problems stem from operating in a 100-year-old building not designed for modern courthouse security.
The presentation framed the requests as public-safety and operational priorities rather than luxuries. The judge repeatedly noted courts do not generate revenue and that mandates from the state have increased workload and costs. The judges said they will provide the county with the OCA report when it is complete and asked that security recommendations remain on the commissioners' radar as possible short- and long-term projects.
