EMA explains vendor switch, plotter lease and reimbursable contracts

Tom Anderson told the committee that changing vendors reduced an earlier recurring service cost from more than $7,000 to a $2,500 annual contract with Regroup. "What used to be, you know, well over $7,000 a year has now reduced itself because I changed companies to 2,500," Anderson said. He said he left some padding in the budget because the line is reimbursable and the state requires continuing certification tasks.
Anderson also explained the county entered a lease with Proven IT for a large-format plotter printer that can print maps and posters critical to incident response. "It is a large plotter printer... If we have an incident and I need to be printing, discernible maps, big maps, I have to be able to have that device," Anderson said, adding the vendor repaired a unit at no cost under warranty.
