Council adopts animal code updates including license and impoundment changes

Town Attorney and the Police Chief presented Ordinance 2026-04, proposing multiple amendments to Town Code Title 6 concerning dogs and cats, impounding language, rules for keeping chickens, and animal capture and traps. The ordinance removes references to an animal shelter the town no longer operates and updates license and vaccination expiration language. Mayor Johann R. Wallace moved to adopt the ordinance; Christy Hirshberg seconded and the council adopted it.
