Soil & Water official notes state budget boosts for conservation programs

Colby Petersen, representing Soil & Water, reported to the Government Operations Committee that recent state budget actions produced several program funding increases affecting the district. Petersen said FLLOWPA funding increased by $500,000, Ag Nonpoint Source Pollution Abatement and Control grants received a $200,000 increase, and the Climate Resilient Farming (CRF) Grant Program went up by $1,000,000. "Looking good for next year," Petersen told the committee.
Petersen also reviewed routine watershed inspection activity, hydroseeding and bale-mulching work, and noted a new district technician will start later in the week. The report was accepted as information.
