Tonasket program expands: Community Access Program opens "The Tiger Way" storefront

Alisa Weddle, the district's Secondary Transition Teacher, told the board the Community Access Program (CAP) now includes a storefront called "The Tiger Way" intended to teach real-world skills that "cannot be learned in the classroom." "The focus is on teaching skills that cannot be learned in the classroom," Weddle said, and staff hope the storefront will build community connections and create job-like experiences for older students.
Weddle said the program is exploring grant funding to improve the store interior and thanked the board and community for their support. The district will continue developing CAP as a hands-on transition program for students preparing to move into post‑school life.
