Stevens County staff recommended approval of a variance request from Hal Glaze to reduce the required 200‑foot setback for a proposed 2,800‑square‑foot stack house, and the Planning Commission voted to approve the request and forward its recommendation to the county commission.
Staff said the property is zoned agricultural intensive and that the proposed reduced left‑yard setback would be 50 feet. Applicant Hal Glaze testified that the new stack house would replace a poultry house destroyed by fire in October 2021 and is designed to EPA and USDA specifications to contain dry litter and limit environmental risk. No speakers registered opposition during the public hearing.
The Planning Commission’s approval was recorded as a recommendation; the county commission will take the final vote at its next meeting.
