County staff updates BEAD broadband progress; two providers win contracts in county

At the March 12 meeting, staff member Meuer briefed the committee on developments in the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program and referenced coverage in Wisconsin Counties magazine. Meuer said the state program initially prioritized fiber builds but that program parameters have shifted; within Calumet County, Bertram Communications and Bug Tussel were awarded significant portions of the BEAD project.
