Kane County adopts ordinance requiring conditional-use activity to begin within two years
The board unanimously adopted Ordinance No. o 2026-12, amending the Kane County Land Use Ordinance to require that action authorized by a conditional use permit commence within two years and allowing one-year extensions for good cause.

Kane County commissioners voted April 28, 2026 to adopt Ordinance No. o 2026-12, revising Title 9 Chapter 15 of the county land use code to add a start-time requirement for conditional use permits. Commissioner Gwen Brown moved for adoption; Commissioners Patty Kubeja and Celeste Meyeres voted with Brown and the motion passed unanimously.
