Town Forest grants in motion: UMATR application submitted, Recreational Trails pre-application due

The Montgomery Conservation Commission reported progress on grant work for the Town Forest, including a submitted UMATR grant application and a near-term pre-application for the Recreational Trails Program.
During the Nov. 5 meeting, members said the UMATR application was submitted to cover the cost of bridge design; award or denial notifications are expected in December 2025. The commission also plans to file a Recreational Trails Program pre-application by the end of November 2025 seeking funds for bridge design and construction; MCC members Matt Paggi, Kip Potter and Joan Hildreth will collaborate on that submission. FCNRCD is also pursuing a wildlife tracking program with MES and will update the MCC if the grant advances.
