Murphy swears in Scott Eckstein as fire marshal

Council and staff formally welcomed Division Chief Scott Eckstein and administered the oath of office as he became the city’s new fire marshal. Staff noted Eckstein joined the department from Richardson Fire Department and described his credentials, including being a licensed paramedic and a master fire investigator.

During the ceremony Eckstein repeated the oath: “Do solemnly swear … that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of fire marshal of the City of Murphy … and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the City of Murphy Charter, and the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this state.” Council and attendees congratulated him after the oath.
