Commission keeps millage flat and sets September public budget hearings

County budget staff presented three options for the FY 2026‑27 maximum millage: (1) an increased millage scenario; (2) the current millage (staff recommendation); and (3) a rollback rate. Following discussion and roll‑call votes the board approved the staff‑recommended option (no increase) for maximum millage rates across county and MSTU levies.
Commissioners then scheduled the required public hearings on the tentative annual budget: the first hearing will be held on September 8, 2026 at 5:05 p.m., and the second and final hearing on September 22, 2026 at 5:05 p.m., both in the commission chambers. Staff noted that the process requires formal certification to the property appraiser and statutory notices to property owners under the Truth in Millage (TRIM) schedule.
