Notus authorizes lagoon seepage testing; DEQ plan to be filed and spring testing planned

City Engineer Antonio Conti told the Notus City Council that DEQ requires sewer lagoon seepage testing every 10 years and that an engineered plan must be submitted and approved by DEQ. Conti said testing could not be completed this year because of timing and temperature constraints, and that testing will take place next spring once the plan is approved.
The council authorized Ackerman-Estvold and Public Works (Tyler Martin) to prepare the report and proceed with necessary steps; the motion to give the firm and staff the go-ahead was moved by Councilman Devin Krasowski and seconded by Rob Hartsock, and it passed on roll call. Conti noted that IDRW has the testing equipment needed to perform the work.
The city will file the engineered plan with DEQ and schedule testing next spring; staff will return with any cost estimates and timing specifics when available.
