Council notes summer programs, backpack giveaway and library reading challenge

A county representative said the PAL program will host free kids activities at Empire Park on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Department of Child Support Services plans an event on August 1 at Modesto Junior College to distribute free backpacks and school supplies and is accepting donations. The Empire Public Library reported an all-ages reading challenge with prizes and sign-up via the Bean Stack app. The council also noted correspondence including a PO Box billing notice and an email from Innovation Campus about a circular bio-economy development; members suggested a future BEAM Circular Innovation Campus presentation.
