Comal County rescinds local disaster declaration, extends burn restrictions

County staff told commissioners that recent early-November rain had lowered local indices below the threshold used to maintain a local disaster declaration. "With the rain that we received in early November, we've dropped below the threshold that we look at for disaster declarations," the staff member said. The court approved rescinding the declaration.
Staff also explained that state law sets a 90-day period for local burn bans; given timing, the county extended its existing burn ban and the court approved an order prohibiting outdoor burning in unincorporated areas to remain in effect under county authority.
