Comal County commissioners approved the reclassification of assistant county engineer positions to support recruitment of a PE‑level candidate. Staff told the court the reclassification follows a recent change and that a strong application for the PE role prompted reversing a prior modification to pursue a qualified candidate.
"This is a change we had a few weeks ago. And, ironically, the day we changed it, we actually got a very good application for a PE position... we're requesting to move this back because we feel like we have a good candidate that may fill this position," the county engineer said. Commissioners approved the reclassification with no budget amendment required.
Members noted the regional difficulty in hiring engineering staff and expressed hope the change would enable a successful hire.
