County staff announced that the Morton Preserve is open to the public on a reservation basis after site work including a parking lot and trail signage. "They built a parking lot, did all the signage out there for the trails," Robert Boyd said, describing roughly eight weeks of work that prepared the site for public access.
Staff said reservations are available on the county website, which will collect visitors' names, contact information and group sizes and send automated access directions and gate instructions. The preserve will remain open outside the golden-cheek warbler breeding season and county staff asked visitors to stay on posted trails and follow site rules.
