During the April 9 meeting the Board approved several personnel and committee appointments. Chilhowie District Supervisor Mike Sturgill moved to appoint Brandon Collins as Smyth County Fire Rescue Chief and to represent the county on multiple regional emergency services committees; the motion passed unanimously. The Board also appointed Kristopher Ratliff as the Board alternate to the District 3 Governmental Cooperative Board (term through Dec. 31, 2029) and Manuel Street to the Keep Southwest Virginia Beautiful Committee through Dec. 31, 2026.
