Village approves $5,000 pilot with Safe Step to address dangerous sidewalks
The board approved hiring Safe Step Safe Sidewalk Solutions for a $5,000 pilot to grind and repair the most hazardous sidewalk sections in 2026; Director of Public Works Leitzinger will present locations and cost estimates for full replacements where grinding is insufficient.

Director of Public Works Leitzinger recommended the village try Safe Step Safe Sidewalk Solutions' grinding service to reduce trip hazards. He said nearby communities, including Hazel Green and Fenimore, use the company and that most towns begin with a $5,000 commitment to have the company grind the worst locations first.
