The Howell Public Schools Board of Education voted unanimously to add an additional Mental Health Professional position as part of staffing adjustments discussed at its April 13 meeting. The motion was moved by Mr. Bedford and supported by Ms. Tarara; the board recorded a 7-0 vote to approve the change.
Board members discussed student mental-health concerns during correspondence earlier in the meeting; President Conn had flagged the district's response to student mental-health needs. "Moved by Mr. Bedford, supported by Ms. Tarara that the board approve an additional Mental Health Professional position, as reviewed by the i3 Board sub-committee and the Finance Committee," the minutes read. The motion was recorded as #2026-043 and passed without dissent. The district will implement the new position according to standard hiring and budget procedures reviewed by the Finance Committee.
