County selects BIS to migrate and host website for ADA compliance

The commissioners voted to migrate the county's primary website to BIS to address ADA compliance and centralize services across county offices. The court reviewed two proposals: one from the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) with a migration fee and a state-hosted option, and one from BIS that would bring the county's primary site and sheriff's content into a single platform with a one-time transition fee and annual hosting costs.
Commissioners discussed the tradeoffs between the migration one-time fee and ongoing annual costs, and several elected officials noted that BIS offers a more user-friendly content-management interface that some county offices already use. "Our total, we went with BIS for everything," one commissioner said in the discussion. After a motion by Commissioner Basham and a second from Commissioner Matthews the court approved selection of BIS; the judge confirmed the motion carried.
Staff said annual hosting and migration costs will be negotiated and that the tax assessor and county clerk currently pay for some services separately; the county will work to finalize the rollout and bring any multi-year contract back to the court for approval.
