Board members spent a focused portion of the work session debating how to apply pay increases for county employees in FY2027. Chairman Clifton Thomas proposed a tiered structure and initially said he "would favor a 2% increase for anyone making under $80,000, 1.5% for anyone between $80,000 - $100,000, 1% for anyone from $100,000 to $120,000 and 0% for anyone over $120,000." Thomas later revised that suggestion to support a 2% increase for employees earning under $100,000.
