The court considered a request to approve an agreement allowing Constable Precinct 4 to participate in the Department of Homeland Security's 287(g) program, mirroring participation by the county attorney's office, the district attorney and the sheriff's office.
A county representative explained the constable's desire to participate and answered commissioners' questions about how the office would be included. "So he wants to participate in the same program that the county attorney's office, DA's office, and sheriff's office will participate in," a staff member explained.
Commissioner Hill moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Connolly seconded and the court recorded the motion as carried. The transcript records the approval as carried in the minutes.
No additional conditions or implementation steps were recorded at the time of approval; county counsel thanked the court after the vote.
