County campgrounds open; county installs kayak launch and plans Gile Flowage dedication
Iron County reported campground openings (Lake of the Falls April 30; Weber Lake, Schomberg and Saxon Harbor May 7), installed a kayak launch funded by local groups, and is planning a Gile Flowage dedication in early June.

Eric Peterson reported that Lake of the Falls Campground opened April 30, and Weber Lake, Schomberg and Saxon Harbor campgrounds opened May 7 for the season. He said Saxon Harbor docks were installed May 12 and that five slips are available for 2026; shallow channel depth limits additional sailboat slips.
