Commission extends conditional-use permit for glampground while septic and engineering work continue
Summary
Planning staff recommended and the commission approved an extension for an existing RCUP (glampground) to allow additional time for septic design and phasing; commissioners required that any use of the house for restrooms meet commercial standards and be within 300 feet of domes.

The commission approved an extension for a previously authorized glampground conditional-use permit, granting the applicant additional time—under the county’s new two-year extension rules—to resolve septic and construction phasing issues.
Staff reported the applicant has not completed final septic design and may phase construction by building two units adjacent to an existing house while ensuring bathrooms serving domes are within a 300-foot distance and meet commercial-access standards. “So on this, it's not really that he's changing anything. He still wants 5. It's just whether he wants to use the house and if they're close enough to the house,” staff said, recommending an extension with conditions.
Commissioners discussed the project history and neighbor preferences; one commissioner noted the applicant had secured neighbor letters preferring trees over a fence. The extension was moved, seconded and approved on a voice vote with staff oversight to ensure the septic and other engineering requirements are met before additional phased construction proceeds.
