Daviess County approves 2027 Community Corrections grant application

The Daviess County Commissioners on March 24, 2026, voted unanimously to approve submission of the county's 2027 Community Corrections grant application. Laura Petty, Daviess County Community Corrections Director, told the board the application mirrors prior years and that Community Corrections applies for Department of Corrections funding annually.
Petty said the Department of Corrections grant is split into two parts "because CC does have a work release — so part of the grant is county supervision and the other part is work release." She told commissioners she kept the requested amount the same as last year and noted state-level funding cuts but said Daviess County was not affected.
The motion to approve the application was made by TC Cook and seconded by Michael Keith; the motion passed unanimously. The board did not amend the requested amount during the meeting and no additional conditions were placed on the application. The county will proceed with submission of the 2027 grant package to the Department of Corrections.
