Board approves multiple policy updates, tables attendance policy until July
Summary
The West Point Board approved a package of policy updates including procurement, communicable disease response and anaphylaxis response; it tabled policy 5001 on compulsory attendance and amended 5004 to define grade bands before approval.
Herb Hasenkamp moved that the board approve policies 3003, 3003.1, 3004.1, 3048, 4017, 4019, 5003 and 5048 as presented, to table policy 5001 until the July meeting, and to approve policy 5004 as amended (defining elementary as K–6, middle school as 7–8 and high school as 9–12, and selecting options 10b(i) and 10b(ii)). Board member Holly Hunke seconded the motion. The motion carried with recorded yea votes from Hasenkamp, Hunke, Brockmann, Blocher and Hughes.
The package includes updates governing bidding and procurement for routine and federally funded projects (3003, 3003.1, 3004.1), a communicable disease policy (3048), workplace safety and bargaining regulations (4017, 4019), admission of part-time students (5003) and emergency response for anaphylaxis (5048). Policy 5001 on compulsory attendance was tabled for further consideration at the July meeting.
