Deputy County Manager Chris Boyd asked the board to approve a resolution authorizing purchase of fiscal‑year 2026 fleet replacement vehicles through the North Carolina Sheriffs Association procurement program, citing a desire to buy model‑year 2025 vehicles before expected price increases for the '26 model year.
Boyd said the purchase would use an exception to the county’s competitive‑bidding requirements and that the vehicles are budgeted; he specifically requested approval for 15 of the 16 vehicles budgeted for FY26. "We'll be looking to buy model year 25 vehicles... instead of potentially having an increase for model year '26," Boyd said.
The board moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
