Sheriff Trevor Wright briefed the Traverse County Commission on a jail incident that must be reported to the Minnesota Department of Corrections; an inspector reviewed the incident and the county expects a write-up for "observation timing," Wright said.
Wright said the jail's medical provider conducted its own review and "were pleased with how our staff handled the situation" and nominated three staff members for a heroic intervention award. He said he and Chief Deputy Miller are planning to solicit quotes for a cell-phone reader to extract information from phones for investigations and would return to the board with recommendations.
Wright also described the county Task Force and SWAT teams as "valuable assets to our community," saying they currently support local investigations, assist with search warrants and provide equipment. The minutes do not record any procurement vote at this meeting; Wright said staff will gather quotes and present them to commissioners for consideration.
